Self-Inflicted Gunshot Death Reported In Easton EASTON, Conn. -- A person died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Easton Tuesday, according to the Easton Courier. Police were contacted Tuesday morning by somebody who knew about a possible suicide attempt, the Easton Courier reported. The person and their vehicle were located in the rear of a property on Black Rock Road, the Easton Courier said. The victim was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m. by Easton Emergency Medical Service technicians, according to the Easton Courier. Pregnant Connecticut Woman Tests Positive For Zika Virus FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A Connecticut woman who became pregnant while traveling in Central America has tested positive for the Zika virus, according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Zika is a mosquito-borne virus that can cause fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis lasting several days to a week. There is no vaccine and deaths are rare, but the virus can spread from pregnant women to their fetuses, leading to birth defects and miscarriages. Monroe Man Tried To Bring Loaded Gun Onto Plane, TSA Says MONROE, Conn. -- A Monroe man was arrested and charged with trying to bring a loaded gun onto a plane at LaGuardia Airport Thursday, according to the Transportation Safety Administration. TSA officers found the .38 caliber handgun in the man's laptop bag as he was passing through an airport checkpoint, the TSA said. The gun was loaded with six bullets. Norwalk Pedestrian, 79, Dies After Being Hit By Car NORWALK, Conn. -- A 79-year-old Norwalk man was struck and killed by a car on Newtown Avenue Thursday, according to police. The incident took place in the area of 197 Newtown Ave. at around 11:30 p.m. Police said the man was walking in the roadway when he was hit by the car.
