Seymour Man, 22, Killed In Bridgeport Rollover Car Crash BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A pair of crashes in Bridgeport Monday left one person dead and sent three other people to the hospital, according to police. David Anthony Anderson, 22, of Seymour was killed in an accident near the intersection of Barnum Avenue and Pembroke Street. Anderson was traveling west on Barnum Avenue when his SUV was struck by a Saturn traveling south on Pembroke Street, which was operated by a 20-year-old man from Bridgeport, according to police reports. Malloy Cuts All State Aid To New Canaan Schools In New Proposed Budget FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Gov. Dannel Malloy released a revised budget proposal for the 2017 fiscal year Tuesday, which includes completely eliminating education cost sharing grants for 11 Fairfield County towns while maintaining full funding for its four large cities. Ridgefield Tops List Of Safest Cities In Country RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield has been named the safest place in the country to live in a recent ranking by the website NeighborhoodScout. Contractor Dies After Fall From Scaffolding At House In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- A contractor died Monday after falling from a scaffolding at a home under construction in Darien, police said. Police received a 911 call at 12:51 p.m. reporting that a contractor had been injured as a result of an apparent fall at a single-family home under construction on Nearwater Lane, police said. New Canaan Police Warn Of Eversource Scammers In Town NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan police are warning residents of people claiming to be Eversource employees attempting to scam people in the business district of town. Police issued the warning on Twitter Thursday, saying that the suspects have threatened to cut off power to people if they don't receive payment. Police said that one suspect is a white male between the ages of 35 and 40 years old, seen driving in a white van. Power Outage Hits 1,800 Trumbull Customers TRUMBULL, Conn. -- More than 1,800 people were without power in Trumbull Thursday afternoon, according to United Illuminating. As of 1:45 p.m. there were seven outages in town, affecting 1,815 customers, UI reported. Nearby areas did not appear to be heavily affected, with Bridgeport experience two outages affecting two customers, and Easton seeing one outage affecting one customer. UI did not announce a reason for the outages. Showers were forecast to hit Trumbull and the rest of Fairfield County Thursday, with a 100 percent chance of precipitation and gusts as high as 34 mph.

Downed Wire Closes Road, Knocks Out Power In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. -- Downed wires closed Old Mill Road in Greenwich Thursday morning, according to fire officials. The wires were down and burning, Greenwich Professional Firefighters tweeted. Eversource was responding to the incident, fire officials said. As of 11:15 a.m., there were 85 customers in Greenwich without power, according to Eversource.

Driver Freed From Car Following Westport Crash WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport firefighters had to free a driver from their car following a crash at the intersection of Post Road East and Cedar Road Wednesday morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 7 a.m. on reports of an accident. Engine 5, Rescue 3 and the shift commander arrived on scene to find two cars that had been involved in a T-bone collision, fire officials said.
