A large-scale cockfighting operation hidden at a Connecticut home led to 100 arrests and the seizure of nearly $90,000, officials said.
Elvin Miranda, 59, and Lisa Miranda, 66, of Tolland, were among 100 people arrested after state police raided the couple's Mountain Spring Road property Saturday afternoon, May 16. Troopers executed a search-and-seizure warrant at 1:29 p.m. tied to illegal gambling and cockfighting events being held at the home, Connecticut State Police said.
Investigators said they found hundreds of birds living in poor conditions.

A Connecticut man accused of violating a protective order was found with firearms, a ghost gun component, high-capacity magazines, and several controlled substances, police said.
Dominick Santella, 41, of Norwalk, was arrested last week after police responded to a family violence incident, authorities said.
Norwalk investigators said Santella was prohibited from possessing firearms under a protective order. Police said he had previously signed a DPS compliance statement claiming he had turned over all firearms and ammunition.

A man wanted for murder in Ohio was arrested in Connecticut after police said he fled from officers near the scene of an earlier shooting, authorities said. Officers also recovered a gun and drugs during the arrest.
Khaliq Hunt, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was arrested in Meriden on Tuesday, May 12, after police spotted him near Pratt Street and Mill Street, the scene of an earlier shooting, authorities said.
