An award-winning chef at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, accused of beating his wife to death at a university hotel, has pleaded not guilty. Jeffrey MacDonald, 36, of Wilbraham, is charged with murder and assault and battery on a police officer after his arrest at Hotel UMass, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. A Western Massachusetts man is behind bars after authorities say he tried to meet up to have sex with a child at a West Springfield motel.
