A 39-year-old man who ICE agents had apparently mistaken for another man who had already fled the country is facing federal charges, according to federal officials. Eduardo Cruz Garcia, of Barnegat, was charged by criminal complaint with assaulting a federal officer while the officer was performing official duties and inflicting bodily injury in connection to the Monday, June 15 incident on Route 72 in Manahawkin, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The sudden death of an Englewood police sergeant has left his family, fellow officers, and the community mourning the loss of a man described as a dedicated officer, trusted friend, and devoted father. Sgt. Matthew DePetro died in his sleep following a medical event, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched by Englewood PBA Local 216. Vineland Man Drove 108 MPH In Deadly Crash: Atlantic County Prosecutor
A Vineland man has been indicted on manslaughter charges following a deadly crash in Atlantic County, authorities announced Thursday, June 17. At 3:31 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 14, Alfredo Huertas-Vidal was driving a motor vehicle while impaired in Buena Vista Twp when it left the roadway in on multiple occasions before striking a tree in the woods, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. Huertas-Vidal was traveling at 108 miles per hour at the time of the crash. Huertas-Vidal's passenger, Luis Martinez, a 43-year-old Vineland resident was killed in the crash, authorities said.

Man Indicted In Deadly Shooting Of Atlantic City Woman: Prosecutor
A 26-year-old Atlantic County man has been indicted following the deadly shooting of Jaylou Marlenne Pineda-Lopez, authorities announced Thursday, June 18. Franklin Junior Felipe De La Paz is facing manslaughter charges, along with being in possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. A 21-year-old Shamong resident was airlifted after a crash in Medford on Tuesday, June 16, authorities said. At 1:29 p.m., officers responded to Hawkin Road and Chairville Road after a 2019 Ducati motorcycle was traveling east when a 2012 U-Turn, operated by a 74-year-old Medford man, attempted to make a U-turn, Medford Township police said.
