A masked gunman robbed a Chase Bank in Morris County before escaping with approximately $12,000, prompting a massive manhunt on Saturday, June 27, authorities said.
The robbery happened at approximately 1:57 p.m., at the Chase Bank at 530 Myrtle Ave., in Boonton, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, Boonton Police Chief Chris Petonak, and Capt. Anthony LiMandri said.

A supervisor with the Jersey City Department of Housing, Economic Development, and Commerce was arrested following a fraud investigation, authorities said Saturday, June 27.
Jessica Barreto, 48, of Wallington, was arrested Friday, June 26, on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Investigations Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.
Barreto accepted a $1,500 cash payment for personal gain in exchange for issuing a short-term rental permit, prosecutors said.

Toyota is recalling 20,991 electric vehicles, including Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru models, over a software issue that could cause a loss of drive power, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall affects certain 2026 model-year Toyota bZ, Lexus RZ, and Subaru Solterra vehicles.
The affected vehicles include 11,495 Toyota bZ models, 4,739 Lexus RZ models, and 4,757 Subaru Solterra models, according to NHTSA.
