The fifth and final fugitive wanted in a 2024 stabbing outside of a Bergen County bar was arrested in Texas after more than two years as a fugitive, authorities announced Friday, May 8.
Ricky “Angel” Vargas, 37, a member of the Latin Kings from East Stroudsburg, PA, who had been wanted in the February 2024 killing of 31-year-old Hawthorne resident Richard Franceschi, was arrested Thursday, May 7, at a residence in Longview, TX, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Woman Dies Weeks After House Fire In Pennsylvania: Coroner
A woman injured in a Bethlehem house fire last month has died from her injuries, officials announced on Friday, May 8.
Christine L. Garganta, 50, of Bethlehem, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Her death was ruled an accident caused by complications of inhalation of products of combustion from the fire, the coroner said.
The fire happened in the 2100 block of Princeton Avenue at approximately 8:17 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, authorities said.

A Delaware man wanted in a violent sexual assault case was captured in Wilmington after a multi-agency manhunt, Parkesburg Borough Police announced on Wednesday, May 7.
Richard Javier Vasquez-Lopez, 23, was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, in a Wilmington parking lot after investigators tracked him down with the help of county, state, and federal law enforcement partners, according to Parkesburg Borough Police.
