Alleged MS-13 Member Indicted For Pair Of Long Island Murders, Including One Near High School
An alleged MS-13 gang member had been accused of participating in a pair of murders on Long Island.
One of those homicides occurred near a high school, authorities said.
Gerson Hernandez, age 21, of Uniondale, was arraigned on Thursday, May 11, on murder charges for his role in two supposed gang-related killings in 2022, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
According to the indictment, Hernandez, who is an alleged member of the MS-13 gang, worked with two other unidentified gang members to shoot victim Walter Ochoa in the chest in a park in Uniondale.

Manhasset resident Alfred DiGirolomo, Jr., age 67, was arraigned on Tuesday, April 25 for allegedly practicing law without authorization and stealing thousands of dollars from his client, Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced.
This is not the first time DiGirolomo has been arraigned – in March 2021, he was sentenced to time in prison for similar charges.

A Long Island attorney is now facing his own court date after he allegedly kept all of the earnings his client won in a personal injury claim, authorities said.
Huntington resident Sean O’Leary, age 64, was arraigned Wednesday, April 19, on grand larceny charges, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
O’Leary, who practiced in Lake Success at his company, Sean O’Leary & Associates, PLLC, was contacted by his victim in May 2018.

A jury has convicted a Long Island man accused of viciously stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at a local racetrack.
Jose Franco-Martinez, age 58, of Elmont, was found guilty of second-degree murder nearly five years after stabbing Maria Larin, the Nassau County DA announced Wednesday, April 5.
Larin worked as a hot walker at the Belmont Park racetrack in Elmont, where she would walk horses after their races to help them cool down.
She was working when, on June 17, 2018, Franco-Martinez showed up and attacked her, stabbing and cutting her 23 times with a kitchen knife.

Former Bookkeeper From Westbury Accused Of Embezzling $120K
A former Long Island bookkeeper has been charged with allegedly stealing more than $120,000 from a local trade union.
Jennifer Jira, age 40, of Westbury, was arraigned on Thursday, Aug. 18, and charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records, said Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly.
Jira pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance. If convicted on the top charge, she faces. up to 15 years in prison.
