Atlantic City Man Convicted Of Murder, Shot At Victim 4 Times: Prosecutor
A 49-year-old Atlantic City man was convicted on Friday, June 27 of gunning down a man outside a hotel, authorities said.
Umar Abdullah faces up to life in prison after being convicted of murder in the first degree and multiple weapons offenses, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.
On Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 at 4 a.m., law enforcement responded to the Cassino Hotel at 28 S. Georgia Ave. and found Mark Wright, a 35-year-old Atlantic City resident, with three gunshot wounds, authorities said. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Heroin, Cocaine: Pleasantville Man Arrested After K-9 Detects Drugs, AC Police Say
A 33-year-old Pleasantville man was arrested and charged after he was found to be in possession of heroin and cocaine in Atlantic City on Wednesday, June 4, authorities said.
At 4:40 p.m., officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at Kentucky and Drexel avenues, Atlantic City police said. A detective along with K-9 partner, Gee, arrived on scene and Gee detected drugs in the vehicle, police said.
Steven Young Jr. was removed from the vehicle after turning over the narcotics he had concealed in his pants, police said. Additional narcotics were found inside the vehicle, police said.

CT Funeral Home Owner Launches Campaign To Help Victims Of Alleged $70K Vernon Funeral Scam
A group is working to help victims of an alleged Connecticut funeral scam involving a former funeral home owner accused of embezzling more than $70,000 from funds meant for burials and other services, to allegedly fuel his gambling habit.
Philip Pietras, 51, of Coventry, was arrested Sunday, April 6, and charged with first-degree larceny, according to Connecticut State Police.
