Atlantic City Man, 69, Charged With Killing Neighbor During A Dispute
A 69 year-old man has been charged with fatally shooting an Atlantic City neighbor during a dispute, authorities said. Atlantic City police received a 9-1-1 call at 11:24 a.m. on Saturday about a woman suffering a gunshot wound at 1507 Belfield Ave., Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said. The 32-year-old shooting victim, Marketa E. Thorpe, was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where she was pronounced dead, Tyner said. A 12-year-old boy crashed a stolen car while speeding away from a motor vehicle stop in Atlantic City, authorities said. Police officer Aaron Jones was stopped by a concerned citizen on New Jersey Avenue saying there was a car being driven by a juvenile at a high rate of speed around 9:50 a.m. Monday, Atlantic City police said. The office attempted to stop the car but the driver refused, then crashed into a pole on the 600 block of Connecticut Avenue, police said. A Burlington County man was arrested on multiple drug charges after speeding away from Atlantic City police, crashing into two cars and then fleeing on foot into a marsh, authorities said.
