Two Newark Teens Busted Trying To Break Into Vehicles: Nutley PD
Two 16-year-old Newark teenagers were arrested and charged for attempting to break into vehicles in Nutley on the evening of Thursday, March 28, authorities said. At 10:45 p.m., Belleville police notified Nutley police of two people wearing ski masks who were trying to enter homes in the township, Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Nutley Police Chief Thomas Strumolo said. Nutley police searched the area and found the two teenagers trying to enter vehicles on Ohlson Avenue and Ridge Road, police said. Woman Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Belleville: Authorities
A 78-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Belleville on Friday, March 22, authorities said. At 8:53 a.m., Teresita Cenit was hit by a car while walking on the 100 block of Union Avenue, Thomas Fennelly, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. She was transported to University Hospital in Newark where she was pronounced dead soon after, Fennelly said. The driver remained on scene, Fennelly said. The crash remains under investigation.

A new QuickChek has opened in Essex County. QuickChek recently opened a new 4,542-square-foot store in Belleville at 190 Cortlandt Street. The store celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday, March 5. Russ Mensch The store offers no-fee ATMs, 12 fueling stations, outdoor seating and 51 parking spaces. The location will be open 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., seven days a week. Marie Strumolo-Burke, an institution in the township of Belleville died on Friday, March 8 at the age of 82, Mayor Michael Melham announced. Strumolo-Burke spent two decades on the town council, representing the 1st ward and lived in Belleville for 45 years. A graduate of Central High School, where she was valedictorian, Strumolo-Burke was founder of the Silver Lake Civic Association and served as Democratic Chairwoman. 4-Year-Old Boy Hurt, Man Dead In Belleville Shooting
A 4-year-old boy was hurt and a man was killed in a Belleville shooting over the weekend, police said. Francis Medina, 37, was shot on the 100 block of Mill Street around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Belleville Chief of Police Mark Minichini said. He was taken to Clara Maass Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m. The boy was taken to an area hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition. The investigation is active and ongoing. Three Rescued From Vehicle Trapped In Floods: Belleville PD
Three people were rescued after their vehicle got stuck on a flooded roadway in Belleville early Wednesday morning, Nov. 22. At 5:10 a.m., Belleville police were notified of a vehicle stuck on a flooded roadway near 525 Main St, officers said. Police found a 2014 Dodge Durango with three occupants inside and along with the fire department, were able to safely remove the occupants, officers said. The vehicle was subsequently towed, police said. The roadway was eventually reopened, police said.
