Tornado Possible, Flood Watch Issued Across 18 NJ Counties As Thunderstorms Loom
A flood watch is in effect across 18 of New Jersey's counties as thunderstorms with the possibility of a tornado moves in, the National Weather Service said. The flood watch is in effect until Wednesday evening, Sept. 13, in the following counties, according to the NWS: Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren. An elaborate drug fraud ring operating in more than half the counties in New Jersey stole doctors’ prescription pads as part of a scheme to stock up on opioid-boosted cough syrup, authorities charged. Medical offices in various parts of the state – including Wayne, Morristown and Bridgewater – were broken into by Divinete Jeffries, 30, of East Orange, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. Lodi Man Busted In Theft Of Snow Plow From New Milford School District
A Lodi man who authorities said has a thing for snow plows was arrested by New Milford police. Enzo Russo, 56, is also being eyed in similar thefts in Bergen and Passaic, they said. The snow plow in question in New Milford was taken from the local Board of Education while it was parked on school property, Police Capt. Kevin Van Saders said. Police recovered the snow plow and arrested Russon on Friday, May 12, Van Saders said. 3 Cases Of West Nile Virus Reported In These NJ Counties
New Jersey has its first cases of West Nile Virus of the year, the state's health department confirmed. Three men tested positive for the virus in Bergen, Morris, and Ocean counties. Two are in their 50s, one is in his 80s, and all were hospitalized. Two were recovering at home and one remains hospitalized. WNV has also been detected in 293 mosquito pools and a red-tailed hawk this year in New Jersey. No cases of WNV have been reported in horses in 2022.
