Police in Western Massachusetts are investigating following an officer-involved shooting that left one shot and a police officer injured. The incident took place in Hampden County just after midnight on Thursday, Jan. 27, when a Springfield officer assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit was responding to investigate an incident when he located a suspect on Court Square Avenue, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police Department. A police commission has recommended firing a police officer who is accused of using excessive force during a Christmas morning confrontation with a resident in Connecticut. On Tuesday, June 16, the City of New Haven held a Board of Police Commissioners meeting in which New Haven Police Chief Otoniel Reyes recommended the firing of Officer Jason Santiago after the incident that occurred last year. : Vernon PD Releases Body Cam Footage Of Officer Fatally Shooting Dog
The Vernon Police Department has released body camera footage of a police officer that shot a loose dog. A neighbor can be heard telling Officer Rivera a local dog, "Hiro," had been running around loose for four or five hours Saturday afternoon. The neighbor told Rivera he tried giving the "rabid" dog water when it attacked him. Footage moments later shows Hiro barking and running toward the officer. An inexperienced police officer made an “unreasonable” decision in shooting and killing a Hasbrouck Heights man who’d jumped on the hood of his marked SUV near Dorney Park in Pennsylvania, authorities there said Tuesday.
