Downed Power Line Closes Route 208
A downed power line closed Route 208 for hours on Saturday. The highway was closed in both directions through portions of Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, and Hawthorne on Nov. 12 so repairs could be made. The energized line also damaged a section of the southbound highway in Glen Rock when it fell, keeping a lane closed once police reopened the highway. No injuries were reported. Mustang Wipes Out Bridge Guardrail In Ridgewood
Both a bridge and a sports car needed serious repair after the vehicle jumped a curb, careened across a sidewalk and slammed into a steel guardrail in Ridgewood. Neither the driver nor passenger required hospitalization after the 2015 Ford Mustang S550 crashed on the East Ridgewood Avenue bridge over the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook. Police Forced To Put Deer Down After Crash In Glen Rock, It's Season For Drivers To Beware
The risk posed by deer in densely populated areas this particular time of year was tragically illustrated when one had to be put down in Glen Rock after being struck by a car. The driver was treated by an EMT from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a minor hand injury after the deer smashed the windshield of a Hyundai Elantra on Maple Avenue on Sunday, Oct. 30. Crash Cracks Utility Pole On Midland Park Main Drag
Two occupants sustained injuries that weren't considered serious when their hatchback split a utility pole before dawn outside the Midland Park Post Office.Utility wires were downed across Godwin as the Hyundai continued into the corner of a building housing an embroidery shop just up the street around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. Three workers handling a job on a cellphone tower were rescued by Fair Lawn firefighters after their lift got stuck. No injuries were reported following a rollover crash on northbound Route 17 in Paramus. A Nissan Murano landed right-side-up after colliding with a Chevy Suburban livery vehicle that careened off the highway and came to rest between the side of a nail salon and a roll-off trash bin during Tuesday morning's rush hour. A Honda Accord driver was hospitalized after a crash propelled the vehicle into the front of a convenience store in Glen Rock (scroll for photos). The collision occurred near the intersection of Harristown Road and Maple Avenue in the late afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 8. A Honda Accord involved in the crash was then launched sideways into the front of the Glen Rock Food Center on Maple Avenue, Loving said.
