Newark Police Seek Public's Help To ID Grocery Store Robbery Suspect Newark police are seeking the public's help identifying a man who they say fled after robbing a grocery store Thursday afternoon. The man apparently demanded money from a cashier at gunpoint around 12:35 p.m. in Ruby's Grocery Store at 977 Bergen Street, according to Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara. Newark Vehicle Carrying 4 Kids Crashes Into Truck During Attempted Carjacking A truck was struck by a vehicle with four kids in Newark during what police described as an attempted carjacking Thursday afternoon. A woman exited her vehicle, leaving four childing inside with the car running, shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Heller Parkway and Branch Brook Drive, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. A suspect then entered her car, hit a nearby truck and fled in a white Jeep, O'Hara said. The children in the vehicle were uninjured, O'Hara said.
