Two Cats Killed After Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Bridgeport
Two cats were killed during an apartment fire in Bridgeport. The fire started Sunday afternoon, July 14 at a three-story apartment building on Monroe Street, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Fire Department. The fire was contained to the apartment on the second floor of the building and no occupants were home at the time, he said. The cats were found when firefighters searched the unit. A customer at an area Kentucky Fried Chicken was allegedly doused in hot water by the restaurant's manager following an argument, said police. Police have released the identity of a 34-year-old man shot and killed on Connecticut Avenue in Bridgeport. Jerrell Gatewood, of Bridgeport, was shot once around 9:42 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, in the area of 5th Street, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald. Ten people were left homeless following a fire at the Crescent Crossing apartment complex in Bridgeport on Sunday morning.
