Expect Delays: Weekslong Sprain Brook Parkway Lane Closures Scheduled
There will be single and double lane closures on the Sprain Brook Parkway for more than two weeks as contracting crews continue construction activity in Westchester County. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert on Wednesday, warning that there will be closures beginning on Monday, Aug. 27 in Mount Pleasant, Greenburgh and Elmsford as crews work in the area. Sign Now Warns Truck Drivers Near King Street Overpass, Hit 14 Times This Year
The state Department of Transportation met its promise to County Executive George Latimer this week to install "more dramatic and eye catching signs to warn truck drivers about the low bridges on the Hutchinson River Parkway," Latimer said on Tuesday, July 31. Police will be ramping up crash reduction patrols on Westchester County parkways throughout the rest of the summer as they attempt to curtail reckless and distracted driving in the region. Van Plunges Off Overpass On Bronx River Parkway In Westchester
Traffic was tied up on the Bronx River Parkway during Thursday’s morning commute when a van flew off the Cross County overpass in Yonkers, coming to a crashing half below. The 35-year-old man who injured a family of six after slamming his SUV into their car driving the wrong way on the Bronx River Parkway last week has been arraigned as he continues to recover from his own injuries sustained in the crash. A 35-year-old man has been identified as the wrong way driver who slammed into an SUV on the Bronx River Parkway in Westchester early Friday, injuring a family of six, according to the Westchester County Police.
