NJ: Morris County Dentist Who Exposed Patients To Heart Infection Can Resume Practice This Year
A Morris County dentist who exposed more than a dozen patients to a heart infection that killed one of them agreed to a five-year license suspension and thousands of dollars in penalties, authorities said. Because the move includes time already in suspension, John Vecchione will be allowed to begin a probationary period on Aug. 31, provided he follows certain conditions and demonstrates his "fitness and competency to resume practice," Attorney General Gurbir S. Described as “grace and positivity personified,” Heather Ryan was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer in June 2016, according to a GoFundMe organized by Ryan and Sarah McDonald Merunka. Pair Airlifted After Head-On Route 206 Sussex County Crash
Two people were airlifted to a hospital after a head-on crash on Route 206 in Sussex County. A Volkswagen driven by Enrico Stampone, 26, of Totowa, crossed over the center line into the southbound lane near mile post 102.5 around 7:15 a.m., New Jersey State Police said. He collided with a Hyundai driven by a 43-year-old Budd Lake woman near the border of Andover Borough and Byram Township, police said. Both were airlifted to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.

A communication systems technician for New Jersey State Police died after being ejected from his motorcycle in a Budd Lake crash, local police said. John Zaki of Landing was headed eastbound on Route 46 when he was struck by a 2002 Toyota near Chamberlain Road on Sept. 29 around 2 p.m., Mount Olive police said. An Ogdensburg man with two warrants out for his arrest and a Hackettstown woman were charged with heroin possession after police saw the car they were in speed to the back of a Budd Lake shopping mall, authorities said. Budd Lake's Gold Mine Hotel has been demolished. Built in 1935, the L-shaped landmark on Route 46 and Gold Mine Road has been closed since at least 2001, Mayor Rob Greenbaum said. Caravella Demolition of East Hanover knocked it down last Thursday. Budd Lake officials asked the owner to have it taken down since it wasn't being used and was "unsafe," the mayor said. Authorities are trying to figure out how a 24-year-old man accused of burglarizing a Morris Township home initially escaped from police custody Wednesday night.
