A 34-year-old Middle Township man was arrested and charged after a barricaded incident led to him swinging an ax at two SWAT Team members, authorities announced Wednesday, Aug. 27.
On Friday, Aug. 22 at 6:22 p.m., officers responded to a residence on West Shellbay Avenue following a reports of an ax wielding man, later identified as Stewart Allay, acting aggressively and erratically toward family members, Middle Township police said.

A 25-year-old Belleplain woman was killed in a crash on Route 550 in Cape May County early Thursday morning, June 19.
At 3:34 a.m., troopers responded to County Road 550 West in Dennis Township after a Honda Civic veered off the roadway to the right and crashed into a tree, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
The driver, Gabrielle Platt, sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for 10 New Jersey counties through 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, as damaging storms threaten to slam the region with hail, wind, and lightning, according to the National Weather Service.

A man is at large after police say he brandished a firearm during a road rage incident in Cape May County on Thursday, Feb. 6, authorities said.
At 12:37 p.m., the suspect, was driving a black Cadillac SUV when he had an altercation with a USPS postal worker, while traveling northbound on the State Highway 50 bridge in Upper Township, New Jersey State Police said.
