Severe Thunderstorm, Tornado Watch In Effect For South Jersey
Strong to severe thunderstorms will move through the area Monday afternoon, Aug. 7 and Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The storms will bring the potential for damaging wind gusts, a few tornadoes, and localized flash flooding, the NWS said. The tornado watch includes Mercer, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties, the NWS said. A slighter chance of thunderstorms exists along the Jersey Shore.

High Fecal Bacteria Levels Put Three Jersey Shore Beaches Under Swimming Advisories
Three Jersey Shore beaches were placed under swimming advisories by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for high levels of fecal bacteria. The ocean beaches placed under swimming advisories on Tuesday, July 11 were: Albany Avenue beach in Atlantic City Philadelphia Avenue beach in Cape May Hollywood Avenue beach in Wildwood Crest In addition to the ocean beaches, six bay beaches in Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean counties and four river beaches in Ocean County also were placed under swimming advisories for high fecal bacteria levels. The U.S. Air Force is celebrating 100 years of air refueling on Tuesday, June 27 with flyovers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. The display by the 305th Air Mobility Wing includes a 15-jet formation of tankers and giant cargo planes over the Jersey Shore and Delaware River. The flyover begins from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey with one KC-135, eight KC-46s and six C-17s. Search Launched For Teen Girl Who Vanished Last Weekend In Monmouth County
Authorities are actively searching for a Monmouth County teenager who has been missing since last weekend. Alexandria Deuter, 15, was last seen walking on the 100 block of South Street in Eatontown, just west of the Route 35 corridor, at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Cape May Couple Loses Apartment In Fire, Brewery Fundraiser Planned
Support is growing for a Cape May couple who lost all their belongings in a fire. The fire broke out Sunday, June 4 in an apartment below Liz Flack and her boyfriend, Jake Hauser. They weren't home at the time, but their two dogs, Philip and Travis, had to be rescued by neighbors and firefighters kicking in doors. Small But Spicy: Powerful Clinging Jellyfish Spotted In NJ Waters
A petite but potent jellyfish is hiding in New Jersey waters, naturalists warn. The Clinging Jellyfish, officially dubbed the Gonionemus vertens, was collected last month by naturalist Naturalist Jesse Amesbury at Skimmer Tours during a trip in the Cape May area. The jellyfish is difficult to see, growing to be only about an inch in diameter and mostly transparent, according to the NJDEP. The Cape May postal worker who went missing had contact with police using a fake last name on Sunday, April 30, authorities said. Corey McFadden, using an alias “Corey Samuels,” had contact with Manasquan Police during the evening hours of April 30, according to Lower Township police.
