Truck Driver Hospitalized After Rollover Crash In Mahopac The driver of a dump truck was hospitalized after a rollover crash that brought down a pole and power lines in Mahopac on Wednesday. The still-energized 13,000-volt wires above the wreck on Long Pond Road near Pleasant Road prevented first-responders from approaching or removing the loan driver from the truck, said Tom Beatty of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. Mahopac Falls Firefighters Save Family's Home A Mahopac Falls family were able to stay in their home following a fire Tuesday thanks to the quick work of firefighters. The fire, at 85 Concord Drive, started around 1:30 p.m. on the outside of the home, said officials with the Mahopac Falls Fire Department. When Mahopac Falls firefighters arrived on scene they found low-hanging electrical wires as well as a downed tree. The ambulance, carrying a patient, slid off the icy roadway around 7:23 a.m. Friday at 211 Drewville Road, police said. There was no word of additional injuries. Mahopac Man Found Passed Out In Vehicle Caught With Cocaine, Police Say A Mahopac man was busted for possession of drugs after Carmel Police officers found him passed out in a vehicle, police said. Michael Gouveia, 35, was arrested Nov. 9, 2017, after officers responded to a call of a person passed out in a vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of cocaine, Carmel police said. Gouveia was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving without a license and having a suspended registration and unregistered vehicle.  He was released on $100 bail pending a future court date.
