Bloodied Suspect Struck Grandmother With Weight Or Statue, Prosecutor Says
The suspect in the killing of his grandmother allegedly struck her with a heavy object, authorities said. Cyril Lloyd, 26, of Carteret. was charged with murdering the 77-year-old woman, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. A five-pound weight and a statue, both with blood on them, were found at the crime scene, said Brynn Krause, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor. A Carteret man has been charged in connection with the death of his 77-year-old grandmother after someone spotted him out in public, covered in blood, authorities said. On Monday, May 1, at 5:29 p.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting that an individual was seen near Taylor Avenue, who appeared to be covered in blood, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. Authorities have identified one of two men killed in Newark over the weekend. Sajade A. Nichols, 35, of Carteret, and an unidentified man were both found having suffered gunshot wounds on the 700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 5:05 p.m. Saturday, March 4, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N.
