Wednesday’s storm left several Hudson Valley households cold and in the dark as utility crews scrambled to ensure area residents could keep the lights and heat on. In Dutchess, 21 of Central Hudson’s 118,595 customers - all in Beacon - were reporting power outages as of 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Dozens of area residents have been left in the dark on Thursday as a nasty storm with drenching rain and gusty winds rolled through the region. As of 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, a total of 28 Central Hudson customers in Dutchess and another several in Orange County were reporting power outages amid the early stages of what is expected to be a major storm. Storm Knocks Out Power In Dutchess County
Hundreds of area residents have lost power as a strong pre-Christmas storm with drenching rain and gusty winds is hitting the region. As of 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, NYSEG was reporting that 514 of its 38,310 Putnam County customers were without power, and just one of its 15,621 customers in Dutchess County were without power. A car crash caused a power outage to more than 1,000 customers in Orange County early Monday morning. The outage occurred around 6:30 a.m. Monday after a car hit a utility pole bringing down power lines in the area of East Main Street and Schutt Road in Middletown, said Mike Donovan, spokesman for Orange and Rockland Utilities. Nearly a thousand Putnam County residents have been left in the dark as lightning and thunderstorms have rocked the region on Tuesday afternoon. NYSEG reported that 988 of their 38,310 customers in the county were in the dark as of 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. Woman Menaces Utility Workers With Knife In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A 60-year-old area woman was arrested and sent to jail after screaming at utility workers and menacing them with a knife and pepper spray, state police said. The incident occurred at around noon on Wednesday, June 27 when troopers responded to Madalin Court in the Dutchess County village of Tivoli for a report of a woman screaming at Central Hudson work crews in the area. A utility worker was shocked today while hooking up a low voltage line to a Hudson Valley home.
