Apartment House Fire Displaces 15 Residents In Central Jersey
A three-alarm fire heavily damaged an entire apartment building in Central Jersey early Friday, Sept. 15, authorities said. The fire displaced 15 residents who are staying elsewhere, South Brunswick police said. The fire was reported shortly after midnight at the Royal Oaks Apartment Complex off Route 1 in South Brunswick, police said. More than a dozen fire departments battled the blaze. There were no injuries.

Old Bridge School PTAs Report Theft Of Funds
The PTAs of two Central Jersey public schools are reporting a possible theft of funds. The two Old Bridge school PTAs are the Grissom Elementary School PTA and Jonas Salk Middle School PTA. Both sent letters to parents this week informing them of financial issues. Both school PTAs said they referred the matter to Old Bridge police. Police did not immediately reply to a request for comment. They also said they removed a member of the Grissom Elementary School PTA board, but did not name the board member. On Aug. 29, Your Eyes and You at 1326 Bound Brook Road in Middlesex reported that the male in the photographs shoplifted over $3,000 worth of eyeglasses from the business, Middlesex Borough police said. Condolences are pouring in for Josef-Ram Yitzhak, the Israeli pilot who died in a Central Jersey helicopter crash last week. Police ID Pedestrian, 32, Killed By Car In Central Jersey
A 32-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Central Jersey. Matthew H. Brunner, of East Brunswick, was struck by the vehicle at the intersection of Cranbury Road and Henly Drive around 8:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, East Brunswick police said. Brunner was critically injured and later pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were uninjured and remained at the scene of the crash. Baby Boy, 1, Drowns In Central Jersey Pool
A 1-year-old boy drowned in a Central Jersey pool Wednesday, Aug. 9, authorities said. The baby was found in a pool in Spotswood and wasn't breathing around 11:20 a.m., Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Spotswood Chief Phillip Corbisiero said. Responders performed CPR before the baby was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hong Kong Scammer Defrauds Central Jersey Business Out Of $12.8K Via Text: Police
A Central Jersey business owner lost $12,800 in an international scam, authorities said. The unidentified proprietor on Union Avenue in Middlesex Borough reported the theft on July 11, police said. The business told Middlesex police they received a text message from an individual claiming to be from a government agency, "threatening to suspend their business license." The business owner was convinced to wire $12,800 to Hong Kong in order to supposedly rectify the issue, police said. After doing so, they realized it was a scam, police said. No arrests had been made.

A 69-year-old man who posed as a taxi driver has been arrested for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman as he drove her to various locations across Central Jersey, authorities said. Andrew S. Firefighters were battling a massive warehouse blaze in Central Jersey, authorities said. South River police warned residents to stay away from Herman Street near Elizabeth Street. South Amboy Fire Department reported that the fire had spread to adjacent homes. The fire broke out Tuesday night, June 13. "Additionally, due to the use of fire hydrants, area residents may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water. Police ID Body Found In Central Jersey Lake
The body of a 36-year-old man from Central Jersey was recovered from a lake, authorities said. The deceased man was identified as Trinidad Perez, of Jamesburg, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. On Sunday, June 11, at about 10:30 a.m., his body was found in Thompson Park Lake. Perez had no obvious signs of trauma to his body, Ciccone said.
