Police: Hackensack Man Chokes, Punches Older Neighbor, Robs Cash, Cellphone
A Hackensack garden apartment tenant choked and punched his 63-year-old neighbor several times while robbing him of cash and his cellphone, authorities said.
Allen D. Humphries, 27, surrendered to city police on Wednesday to face charges of first-degree robbery, as well as aggravated assault, assault and burglary, six days after the mugging, said Capt. Darrin DeWitt, the officer in charge of the department.
Humphries knocked on his neighbor's Second Street door near Clay Street last Thursday night and demanded $20, DeWitt said.

Salesman Tackles Gunman, Holds Him For Paramus PD During Route 4 Clothing Store Robbery
A suit salesman took down a gun-wielding robber and held him for police during the attempted holdup of a Route 4 men's clothing store in Paramus, authorities said.
Wearing cloth gloves and a mask, Kevin D. Howe, 29, of New Milford entered the Suit Store on Monday posing as a customer, Deputy Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti said.
“Give me all the money in the register,” Howe told the employee, he said.
The employee removed the bills, gave them to Howe, then tackled him when he turned his back, Guidetti said.

A Harrington Park warehouse worker killed a Fair Lawn mom with a ball peen hammer at an international bicycle distributor in Northvale, authorities said.
Christian Giron, 24, was quickly taken into custody after the body of co-worker Jeanette Willem, 43, was found at Jamis Bikes at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Giron is charged with murder, weapons offenses and hindering arrest.

Washington Township Woman Stabbed Dead, Boyfriend Charged In Attempted Murder-Suicide
A Washington Township man stabbed his girlfriend dead before trying to kill himself before dawn Sunday, authorities confirmed.
Police responding to the Washington Commons townhouse complex off Pascack Road shortly after midnight found Mary Huber, 51, on the floor of her condo, with Patrick Camilli, 55, on top of her, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Huber, who'd suffered multiple stab wounds and bruises, was pronounced dead a short time later at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, the prosecutor said.
