44-Year-Old Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash, CT State Police Say
A head-on crash in Connecticut led to the death of a driver at an area hospital, state police announced.
In Tolland County, a 34-year-old driver was traveling east on Route 6 in Andover at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22 when he lost control and veered into the opposite lane, striking Windham County resident Andrew Moore, of Moosup, near the intersection of Route 87.
The driver struck Moore, age 44, head-on, and both men were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

28-Year-Old UConn Grad Student Struck, Killed By Car In Crosswalk, State Police Say
Connecticut State Police are asking witnesses to a crash that left a UConn researcher and graduate student dead after he was struck by a car.
Tolland County resident Nhuong Nguyen, age 28, was killed around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Mansfield while walking in the crosswalk on South Eagleville Road, said the Connecticut State Police.
A westbound 2008 Hyundai Elantra struck Nguyen just west of Eastwood Road, state police said.
Nguyen, of Mansfield, was transported to Windham Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Fire Causes 'Catastrophic Damage' To CT Residence
A two-story, two-family home in Connecticut suffered "catastrophic" damage during a raging fire, according to state police.
The incident took place around 2:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 12, at the home located in Middlesex County at 123 Falls Road, in the Moodus section of East Haddam.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the family residence, said the East Haddam Fire Department.

A Connecticut woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash after allegedly being rear-ended by another vehicle.
Marie Mathieu, age 58, was killed around 5:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, in Hartford County on Route 2 in Glastonbury, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to police, a Mercedes-Benz, driven by Mark Herbst, of Hartford, was traveling on Route 2 westbound, east of the Exit 9 on-ramp, when he rear-ended Mathieu's vehicle, located on the shoulder of Route 2 westbound, at the top of the Exit 9 on-ramp, state police said.

More than 1,000 Connecticut residents are still without power two days after a series of storms ripped through the region, flooding the area, downing trees and power lines.
