Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Cranford Crash A pedestrian was struck and killed in an early-morning crash Tuesday in Cranford, authorities said. The pedestrian was crossing Springfield Avenue when they were struck by a 51-year-old Kenilworth man heading south and approaching Orange Avenue, in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, local police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, where they later died. The Hyundai driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. 80-Year-Old Driver Killed, Another Injured In 5-Car Union County Crash An 80-year-old driver was killed and another injured in a five-car crash in Union County on Wednesday, authorities said. The crash occurred at the intersection of North Avenue East and Centennial Avenue in Cranford around 1:40 p.m., Police Detective Lieutenant Edward R. Davenport told Daily Voice. Two of the drivers involved in the crash sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital, where one of them — an 80-year-old Union man — was pronounced dead, Davenport said. Video: Firefighters Battle 4-Alarm Kenilworth Blaze Firefighters from several agencies battled a four-alarm fire that broke out overnight Saturday at a steel mill in Kenilworth. The Blue Blade Steel building at 123 N. 8th St. was heavily damaged, police said. A cause had not been determined as of Sunday morning. The fire broke out around 1 a.m., and brought firefighters from Kenilworth, Elizabeth, Cranford, Union, Springfield, and Hillside to the scene. The blaze was under control approximately two hours later. No injuries were reported.
