SUV Struck Overnight By Freight Train, Driver Killed, At Bergenfield Crossing
A driver was killed overnight when a freight train slammed into her SUV at a railroad crossing in what Bergenfield police said was a suicide. The lifeless victim, a 42-year-old woman from Jefferson, NJ, was alone in the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe when it was struck by a CSX train at the West Central crossing and knocked onto its roof around 1 a.m. Sunday, July 2, Police Capt. Angels In Blue Honored In Cresskill For Saving Convulsing Infant's Life
Guardian angels come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Three of them were all wearing blue one steamy day last summer when an infant suddenly stopped breathing in Cresskill. Cresskill Police Officer Bryan Gil was working a road detail at the intersection of Union Avenue and Piermont Road when he heard a young mother scream for help. Her child, barely 15 months old, had begun convulsing. Gil radioed for EMS and other resources, then began delivering back blows to help clear the infant's airway. Cresskill Crash Ignites House Fire
A chain-reaction ignited by a crash left a Cresskill home damaged by fire. The driver escaped serious injury after his box truck from Woodland Park struck a tree on Madison Avenue off the corner of 8th Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12. Branches then hit wires that energized the garage area of a nearby home. Cresskill firefighters got there quickly and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

A would-be burglar bolted after breaking a window at a Cresskill pharmacy, authorities said. A passerby who saw the aborted attempt at Hudson Drug on Union Avenue dialed 911 shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, March 17, Capt. Jason Lanzilotti said. Holiday Season House Fire Doused In Cresskill
Firefighters quickly doused a house blaze in Cresskill. No injuries were reported in the mid-evening fire Friday, Dec. 16, in the 2½-story home on Magnolia Avenue off the corner of 4th Street near the ballfields.
