Cresskill Resident Says Neighbor Sucker-Punched Him Over Blown Leaves
With snow on the ground, it’s been quiet for the most part on a Cresskill street where a resident said a neighbor sucker-punched him last month while he was blowing leaves. Police arrested 59-year-old John Smith on simple assault charges after his 63-year-old Grant Avenue neighbor claimed Smith cold-cocked him, knocked him down and grabbed his cellphone – tossing it into a leaf pile -- when he tried to call for help, Detective Sgt. Man Injured In Dumont House Fire Charged With Assaulting Officer
Two men trying to get inside a burning Dumont home where a pit bull died in a wind-blown Friday morning fire had to be arrested -- including one who "picked up and threw" a police officer against a car, authorities said. "The house was fully engulfed. You couldn't get inside," Capt. Vincent Tamburro said. Several officers finally subdued the unidentified 26-year-old man, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with burns and smoke inhalation, Tamburro said. Female Paterson police posing as prostitutes Tuesday night bagged 26 johns, while their male colleagues snatched up a dozen streetwalkers who offered them sex for money, authorities said. Federal authorities have charged a Cresskill businessman who co-owned the popular Mamajuana Café chain of Dominican restaurants with bankruptcy fraud. An investigation by the NYPD and New York City-based Homeland Security agents led to charges against Victor Osorio, 40, who helped bring the chain to East Rutherford, Secaucus and Paterson, as well as New York and Florida. Tracy Morgan has sold his Cresskill home after nearly a year on the market. The comic purchased the Truman Drive home for $2.2 million in 2011 but recently sold it for $1.2 million, Variety reports.
