The first vehicle was locked but he then successfully broke into three unlocked vehicles, Gloucester Township police said on Thursday, July 11. The incident captured on video happened off of Johnson Road, police said. While in each unlocked vehicle, the suspect allegedly placed his foot on the brake pedal and pressed the start button in an attempt to steal it if the key FOB was left inside, police said. The theft happened on Friday, June 21 around 3 a.m., when a car was stolen from a driveway in the area of Dearborn Avenue in Rye, according to the City of Rye Police Department.  The car had been left unlocked with the keys inside, police said. The incident prompted the department to remind residents to lock their vehicles, take the keys inside, and remove valuables.
