Police will be ramping up crash reduction patrols on Westchester County parkways throughout the rest of the summer as they attempt to curtail reckless and distracted driving in the region. There will be weekday lane closures on the Cross County Parkway for more than a week in southern Westchester as contracting crews continue work in the area. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, beginning on Monday, July 16, there will be single and double lane closures on the parkway between the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Hutchinson River Parkway as crews complete construction activity. Van Plunges Off Overpass On Bronx River Parkway In Westchester
Traffic was tied up on the Bronx River Parkway during Thursday’s morning commute when a van flew off the Cross County overpass in Yonkers, coming to a crashing half below. The driver of a van was hospitalized with minor injuries after he was driving up the westbound ramp of the Cross County Parkway shortly before 6:30 a.m. when he lost control on the curved roadway, went through the guardrail, off the edge and landed in the median of the Bronx River Parkway, police said.
