21-Year-Old Pleads Guilty In Orange County Murder Case
A 21-year-old Newburgh man pleaded guilty to murder in connection with the shooting death of a man during an attempted robbery, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
While pleading guilty on Friday, Dejoire Fox, 21, admitted that on June 21, 2017, at about 12:30 p.m., he entered an apartment on Chambers Street in the City of Newburgh, with the intention of robbing 63-year-old Raul Diaz-Martinez, the DA's Office said.
He also admitted being armed with a pistol and shooting the victim, who later died of a single gunshot wound, Hoovler said.

Highland Falls Man Sentenced To Five Years For Cocaine Possession
A Highland Falls man was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday for possession of cocaine, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
Rakeem Whatley, 42, was also sentenced to three years post-release supervision after pleading guilty in December to criminal possession of a controlled substance for having 3.7 grams of cocaine, said the DA's Office,
At the time that Whatley pled guilty, he admitted that on March 31, 2017, he knowingly possessed the cocaine at his apartment at 467 Main Street, in the Village of Highland Falls, the DA's Office said.

A former Orange County teacher's aide has been found guilty of two counts of rape and other sexual offenses against a teen boy, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
Mary Thompson, 46, of Montgomery, was convicted Monday after a bench trial before Orange County Court Judge William DeProspo, of two counts of rape, two counts of criminal sexual act, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, for having sexual intercourse twice with a boy who was under seventeen, said the DA's office.
