A Maryland man will spend decades in prison after admitting to his role in the fatal shooting of a popular 34-year-old man in Northeast DC over Thanksgiving weekend last year, authorities announced. Andre Hicks, 40, pleaded guilty earlier this year to second-degree murder while armed in connection to the death of Southeast DC resident Daniel Adams in November 2023. Superior Court Judge Marisa Demeo sentenced Hicks to 25 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, authorities announced on Friday.
