A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for participating in an extensive commercial larceny spree.
Andres Barclett, aka "Coolie", age 27, of Hartford, was sentenced on Wednesday, Dec. 1, followed by two years of supervised release, said Leonard C Boyle, Acting US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
This case stems from “Operation American Steal,” a long-term multi-agency investigation into numerous “grab and go” thefts from various retail fashion stores in Connecticut and nearby states," said Boyle.

A former Bergen County resident now living in Connecticut admitted Wednesday that she embezzled $540,000 from a local company.
Melissa Corso, 50, and her husband lived in Closter when she worked for a Delaware-based security systems supplier with an office in Ridgefield Park, federal authorities said.
Corso, currently of Groton, CT, and co-worker Joseph Spaccavento steered customer payments owed to their former employer to a PayPal account registered to him and linked to her work email, according to an FBI complaint.

One of the area’s most popular shopping centers is getting a facelift as developers signed multiple deals to bring new restaurants, stores, and “experiences” to the Danbury Fair Mall.
Site construction has already begun at Danbury Fair on a new Shake Shack and LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants, officials announced this week, marking the first ground-up construction at the site since 1991.

Ramsey Man Admits Embezzling $516,000 From Ridgefield Park Security Firm
A Ramsey man who worked at a Ridgefield Park security systems firm told a federal judge that he and an accomplice diverted $516,000 of the company’s money to spend on themselves.
Joseph Spaccavento, 41, was an accounts payable manager and assistant controller at the firm, which developed hardware and software for video surveillance, federal authorities said.
His accomplice, Melissa Corso, coordinated the collection of customer payments and applied them to invoices, they said.

Man, Woman Nabbed For Assaulting Cop, Fleeing Traffic Stop, Police Say
A man and a woman wanted for allegedly assaulting an officer were nabbed following a pursuit.
Lehman Blackmon, age 43, of New Haven, and Taneesha Barnes, age 37, of Waterbury, were arrested on Saturday, Feb. 13 by Milford Police when an officer spotted a vehicle that was wanted for assaulting a New Haven Police officer earlier in the evening.
According to Milford Police, when their officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver engaged officers in a pursuit that ended on I-95 at Exit 39A.
