Food Delivery Drivers Among Victims In Reported Uptick In Capital Region Vehicle Thefts
Police are warning of an uptick in vehicle thefts in the region, including several belonging to food delivery drivers. The Albany Police Department has received numerous reports of stolen cars, many of which were left running unattended, the agency said on Facebook Monday, Aug. 7. Michael Torto, a Newark resident, was leaving the gym when he discovered his Honda Accord was halfway immersed in water. For Torto, who works as a delivery driver for Doordash and Uber Eats when he's not attending school at Harvard University, his car is his "prized possession" and necessary for his income.
