The positive COVID-19 infection rate in the Hudson Valley rose for the fifth straight day, as the number of newly confirmed cases topped 1,000 for the first time this week.
According to the state Department of Health, the average seven-day COVID-19 infection rate rose in the Hudson Valley for the fifth straight day, up from 4.49 percent on Friday, March 12 to 4.67 percent on Tuesday, March 16, the highest rate in the state, ahead of Long Island (4.50 percent), and New York City (4.18 percent).

Man Nabbed For Alleged Robbery, Possession Of 'Ghost' Gun In Area, Police Say
An Ulster County man has been arrested for an alleged past robbery and possession of a gun in Dutchess.
Dillon Brown, age 23, of Plattekill, was arrested around 5:25 p.m., by the City of Beacon Police after officers responded to a report of a past robbery involving a firearm, said Detective Sergeant Jason Johnson.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found two men, including Brown who was in possession of a "quantity" of narcotics, as well as a semi-automatic “ghost gun," said Johnson.
