Initial and unconfirmed reports said a gas line was struck on Mt. Pleasant Avenue in East Hanover around 10:30 a.m., requiring crews to clear two homes. Driver Killed In Morris County Crash On Route 280: State Police A 58-year-old driver died in a Sunday morning crash on Route 280, authorities said. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes near milepost 2.2 in East Hanover around 11:25 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry told Daily Voice. A Hyundai passenger vehicle driven by Nathaniel Gardiner ran off the right side of the road and down a grass embankment before hitting a tree, Curry said. Gardiner, of Bloomfield, was killed in the crash.
