Wawa Opens On Route 10 In East Hanover
Wawa’s newest store in East Hanover is now open for business.
The Route 10 store opened bright and early Thursday, May 18, offering free Wawa’s coffee for its first 100 customers, as well as promotional t-shirts reading, 'Coffee, Hoagies, Kindness.'
The grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony also included a meet-and-greet with former soccer player Bradley Wright-Phillips, an appearance by the “freestyle crew,” and, of course, a photo-op with Wawa's mascot, Wally Goose.
The location is just one of four stores to open in the Garden State this season.

Tony Butler, a longtime lieutenant in the Essex County Sheriff's Department, died on Tuesday, May 9, according to his obituary.
Butler, an East Hanover resident who was a native of Cedar Grove, spent 17 years with the Essex County's Sheriff's Department and was known for lighting up a room with his laughter and quick wit, his obituary reads.
He loved being outside with a book in his hand, listening to Elvis and The Beatles, and with his dog, Bonez, who predeceased him, according to his obituary.

Tributes and condolences are pouring in for beloved Morris County native Carlie Annelise Peterson, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 4 at the age of 18.
A longtime resident of East Hanover, New Jersey, Carlie moved to Brodheadsville about three years ago and attended Pleasant Valley High School, her obituary says.

Lab Operators In Bergen, Morris Defrauded Government Out Of $3.5M For COVID Tests: Feds
Two business partners from Bergen and Morris counties operated a clinical lab that defrauded government health insurance programs out of an estimated $3.5 million for COVID testing, federal authorities charged.
Tariq Din, 55, of Saddle River, and Abid Syed, 45, of East Hanover, paid kickbacks to "marketers" for referrals to their Metpath Laboratories in Parsippany, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
Two of the accused marketers, Muhammed Aurangzeb, 45, of Robbinsville, and David Weathers, 59, of the Bronx, received $5 to $30 per referral from Metpath, the U.S. attorney said.

Morris County Man, 36, Charged With Aggravated Sexual Assault Of Teen Victim: Police
A 36-year-old Morris County man was jailed on accusations involving the sexual assault of a teen victim, authorities said.
Melquiades Porfirio, of East Hanover, was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a victim between 13 and 16 years old, three counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact, and second-degree child endangerment, Hanover Police said in a press release on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
Porfirio was taken into custody on Friday, Sept. 9 following an in-depth investigation into a report of the sexual assault of a minor, police said.
