Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Car On Long Island Roadway
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on a busy Long Island roadway.
The incident happened Friday, Jan. 15, at approximately 4:25 p.m. in East Patchogue.
Zipporah Johnson, age 28, of Patchogue, was driving a 2004 Nissan westbound on Montauk Highway, near Scherger Avenue, when her vehicle struck Arturo Peralta, age 77, of East Patchogue, who was walking with his bicycle, Suffolk County Police said.
Peralta was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Johnson was not injured.

A man is facing drug and weapons charges after a crash at a Long Island intersection that killed a man.
Malcolm Stewart, age 29, of Coram, was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz in Medford, northbound on County Road 101 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3 when he drove through a red light and his vehicle struck a 2021 Chevrolet, driven by James Palumbo, age 56, of Yaphank, Suffolk County Police.
Palumbo was traveling southbound, making a left turn onto Station Road, according to police.

Long Island Man Accused Of Leaving Scene Of Crash Causing 7-Year-Old's Death
A Long Island man has been indicted for allegedly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash without reporting that resulted in the death of a 7-year-old boy.
Phuoc Truong, a/k/a Philip Truong, 32, of Southampton, was indicted on Thursday, Dec. 10, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini.
“This was an unspeakable tragedy, but we hope that the apprehension and indictment of this defendant bring some solace to the victim’s family,” Sini said.

Duo Nabbed For Long Island Murder
Police arrested two people for murdering a Long Island man in August.
Homicide Squad detectives charged Brooke Jackson, 41, and Umar A. El-Quhir Sr., 43, of Mastic, on Monday, Nov. 23, with murder, for the Thursday, Aug. 20, killing of Earle Foster, 52, of Hempstead, in East Patchogue, said Suffolk County Police.
Jackson will be held at the Fourth Precinct and El-Quhir Sr. will be held at the Fifth Precinct, and are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Foster was found dead of a gunshot wound in the courtyard of the Maple Tree Apartments.
