Little Ferry Pedestrian, 58, Struck, Killed In East Rutherford
A 58-year-old Little Ferry woman was struck and killed in East Rutherford over the weekend. The victim was struck by a Jeep Cherokee off the intersection of Paterson Avenue and Franklin Place near the Wallington border around 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, East Rutherford Police Chief Dennis Rivelli said. Witnesses said she was thrown several yards. CPR was conducted on the victim, who Riverlli said was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center. A 54-year-old Kinnelon resident was arrested for punching a nurse after he was taken to a hospital during the Giants game on Sunday, Nov. 26, police said. A bomb threat briefly evacuated the American Dream mall in East Rutherford Friday morning, Nov. 24. The New Jersey State Police Bomb and K9 units responded to the mall around 7:15 a.m., performing sweeps for explosive devices as shoppers waited in the parking lots, officials said. An ex-con with the proverbial arm's-length rap sheet unsuccessfully tried to rob a man at knifepoint in the bathroom of a Hackensack McDonald's, authorities said. Giants guard Justin Pugh knew the best place in North Jersey to dine since he went viral on Sunday, Oct. 15. Pugh, who during his player introduction said "Justin Pugh, straight off the couch," was at Elia Mediterranean Restaurant in East Rutherford on Thursday, Oct. 19, the restaurant said on Facebook. Pugh was suddenly thrown into the lineup of last Sunday's game, signing a one-year contract just three days before as Big Blue's offensive line is ravaged by injuries.
