Car Break-In Total Surges To 43 In Easton With Three Vehicle Thefts For Year
With car after car being stolen or broken into across the region, the Easton Police Chief is warning residents to take care and lock their doors.Chief Tim Shaw said that another vehicle was stolen over the weekend, bringing the number of cars stolen in Easton to three. “Please remember to lock your doors,” Shaw said In addition to the stolen vehicles, the chief said 43 cars were illegally entered and had valuables taken in 2018. Seven members of a multi-million dollar national stolen automobile ring are facing time behind bars after being charged in White Plains Federal Court for their roles in the operation in New York and Connecticut. Beginning in October last year, Marvin Williams, Nicholas Dixon, Jason Higney, Besar Ismaili, Steven Klein, Lashaumba Randolph and Abdurahamin Shabazz allegedly operated the stolen car ring. Storm Knocks Out Power To Hundreds In Fairfield County
The first Nor'easter of the season has resulted in hundreds of power outages to residents and businesses in Fairfield County on Saturday. The hardest hit town as of noontime Saturday is Danbury with 138 outages, according to Eversource. Bethel is reporting 60 outages, Norwalk 59, Monroe 50 and New Canaan 14. A pair of Fairfield County men wanted for failing to appear in court for various offenses dating back earlier this year were taken into custody over the weekend. The Milford Police Department announced on Monday that they have arrested two men who are wanted by court officials in several Fairfield County municipalities. Once a rare sight, the black bear is making a comeback in Fairfield County -- and statewide. The Connecticut State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) reported that a total of 7,493 black bear sightings have been reported in Connecticut in the past year, from Aug. 10, 2017 to Aug. 5 of this year, including hundreds in Fairfield County. Easton Man With Bottles Of Vodka In Car Was Under Influence, Westport Police Say
A Fairfield County man was busted for driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over with an empty bottle of vodka in his backseat during the middle of the day, police said. Police in Westport stopped Easton resident John Finneran at approximately noon on Aug. 2, when officers received a report of a man driving erratically on Main Street. Health officials are warning residents to cover up as a new batch of mosquitoes in Fairfield County have tested positive for West Nile. Officials with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station report that a group of mosquitoes collected in Easton on June 19 tested positive for the disease, said Dr. Philip Armstrong, the medical entomologist with the organization.
