The homeowner called 911 at about 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, and said that his house was on fire and that he could not control it, police said. Homeowner, Police Officer Sent To Hospital After Fire In Easton House EASTON, Conn. — An Easton homeowner and an Easton police officer were taken to the hospital after a fire in the basement heavily damaged a local house, according to The Hour. The fire was reported just after 7:30 p.m. Friday at 25 Deerfield Drive, The Hour said. The temperature at the time was in the single digits, with strong winds on a frigid night.  The homeowner appeared to be suffering from smoke inhalation, Easton Fire Chief Steve Waugh told The Hour.
