A Newark man has been charged in two separate domestic violence incidents involving the same woman just two days apart, authorities said.

An Elizabeth man was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for committing three armed robberies in New Jersey, authorities said.
Dayshawn Brimfield previously pleaded guilty to multiple robbery offenses and a weapons charge, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba said.
On Friday, April 2, 2021, Brimfield robbed a bank in Hazlet after he handed the teller a note that read, “This is a Robbery I have a Gun I will Kill Someone if you do not follow these instructions,” Habba said.

Family, friends, and strangers across North Jersey are rallying around the loved ones of Michael Mendonca-Lopez, the 23-year-old motorcyclist killed in a Passaic County crash over the weekend.
A wake will be held for Lopez on Wednesday, April 30, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home in Elizabeth, according to his obituary. His memorial service will begin the following morning, Thursday, May 1 at 9 a.m., at the same location.

Two people from Elizabeth, including an 8-year-old girl were killed in a crash on Route 295 in Burling County on the evening of Sunday, April 6.
At 10:17 p.m., a Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Tucson were traveling northbound on Route 295 in Florence, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey Police said. The Santa Fe struck a guardrail, re-entered the roadway and collided with the Tucson, Lebron said. The impact caused both vehicles to run off the road and strike several trees, Lebron said.
