Westchester County set a record as the number of active COVID-19 cases across the county hit a new high. During a COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, Jan. 4, County Executive George Latimer said that fueled by the Omicron variant, Westchester now has 27,692 active cases of the virus, the highest that they’ve seen since the pandemic began almost two years ago. New Details Released After Fiery Fatal Head-On Westchester Crash
New details have emerged in a fiery Westchester County crash that left one person dead. It happened around 11:45 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17 in the area of Saw Mill River Road and Fieldcrest Drive in the Elmsford area of Greenburgh. According to Lieutenant Kobie Powell of the Greenburgh Police Department, a preliminary investigation indicated the vehicles involved, a Honda sedan and a fuel tanker, were engulfed in flames. Elected officials in Westchester are seeing the light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel as the number of residents getting vaccinated surged in the past several days. Thousands in the Hudson Valley were left in the dark overnight as Tropical Depression Ida rocked the region, felling trees and downing power lines with whipping winds and flooding rains. A Westchester man was killed after being hit by a hit-and-run driver while walking in the area. Man Charged For Allegedly Driving In Westchester County With BAC Twice Legal Limit
Police said a Connecticut man has been charged for driving in Westchester County with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. On Friday, July 16, at about 11:15 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on I-287 in Elmsford for a vehicle and traffic violation, New York State Police said. Police said the driver, Wilfredo Perez, of Stamford, was taken into custody. Authorities said Perez's blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.19%. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, which is a misdemeanor charge.
