: Chain-Reaction Crash At PIP Gas Station Dislodges Pump
A tragedy was avoided when a chain-reaction crash involving drivers from Englewood dislodged a gas pump at a service station on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. A 2003 Infiniti sedan driven by a 48-year-old city man entered the Mobil station on the southbound PIP in Englewood Cliffs and struck a 2013 Honda sedan being operated by a 52-year-old city woman who was parked near the pumps shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, PIP Police Lt. Chances are good an intruder who made himself comfortable while burglarizing an Englewood home – raiding the refrigerator and changing his clothes – isn’t finding the accommodations at the Bergen County Jail as cushy. Police responding to a disturbance at an Englewood rooming house found three guns -- all loaded -- and made two arrests, authorities said. A woman who became involved in a dispute with two residents and a non-resident at the home on James Street near Demarest Avenue told responding officers that she'd been threatened with a a knife. Power Players! $50K Lotto Ticket Sold In Englewood
While no one won the big Powerball jackpot on Monday, Oct. 9, three North Jersey lottery players are not complaining. Two tickets sold in Bergen County and one sold in Warren County matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball drawn winning the $50,000 third-tier prize. A carpenter from Clifton who was released after being arrested on child sex assault charges out of Englewood has been charged with victimizing a second youngster. Esmond Nimblett, 49, was taken into custody on Aug. 3 for two alleged sex assaults in Englewood on a victim between 13 and 16 years old on July 22, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella Nimblett spent 11 days in the Bergen County Jail before a judge in Hackensack released him, with conditions, on Aug. 14, records show.
