A major redevelopment of Monmouth Mall is about to begin, transforming the shopping center into luxury apartments, new retail options, and a town center. The developer, Kushner — with headquarters in Florham Park and New York City — is planning to convert the 64-year-old mall on Route 35 in Eatontown into a large attraction called Monmouth Square. UPDATE: A Bronx man nicknamed "Shakes" admitted that he served as the lookout while two home invaders posing as NYPD detectives tied up and robbed a Fair Lawn family. Dominick Memoli, 57, was in on the planning of last year’s robbery, in which residents were zip-tied and an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry was stolen, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. 14 NJ Businesses Newly-Barred From Practicing For Shortchanging Workers: DOL
An additional 14 New Jersey businesses have been barred from practicing for short-changing workers and other violations, bringing the total to 82, according to the state's Labor and Workforce Development Department. The businesses — which were named to the NJDOL’s Workplace Accountability in Labor List (the WALL) — owe a collective $956,000 in wages and penalties to the state and their employees. One Caught, On Sought: Pair Wanted In Paterson Armed Robberies Pursued Through Fair Lawn
A police pursuit through Fair Lawn of two men wanted for a pair of armed robberies in Paterson ended, as Christmas Eve began, with one caught and the other sought. Authorities had been looking for a stolen Chevy Colorado pickup truck used in both holdups, including the robbery of a 7-Eleven on Ryerson Avenue around midnight on Friday, Dec. 22. A driver was injured when his truck slammed into a guard rail, dumping a load of lumber near a busy Fair Lawn intersection. The Blue Ridge Lumber driver was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center by a Fair Lawn EMS ambulance following the crash on Plaza Road near Berdan Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18. It took a number of emergency responders more than a half hour to find the body of a man who was struck and killed by an NJ TRANSIT train Tuesday night in Bergen County. Local police departments in Bergen County have been comparing notes amid a rising wave of brazen home burglaries.
