Man Tampered With Gas Lines, Endangering Residents In Hyde Park Building, Police Say
A Hyde Park man has been arrested for allegedly endangering all of the residents of an apartment complex by tampering with the gas lines. Kenneth Brown, 27, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 24 after Hyde Park Police were first called to the Arbor Apartments on Hook Road on Wednesday, Jan. 16 for a reported odor of gas, said Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson. Hyde Park Car Wash Heavily Damaged During Fire
An early morning fire caused heavy damage to an area car wash after flames started in a storage area. The fire was reported by an automatic alarm around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Foam and Wash Car Wash at 888 Violet Ave., in Hyde Park, said Roosevelt Fire Chief Lew Darrow. Minutes later a passerby noticed the flames and called 911, he said. Roosevelt and Fairview firefighters responded and were met with visible flames, he said. The 52-year-old man who was killed in an early morning fire on Tuesday has been identified. Fire crews from Dutchess County were dispatched to a Farm Lane home in Hyde Park at approximately 1:15 a.m. Jan. 8, after the fire broke out in a house near the intersection of Route 9, Police Chief Robert Benson announced. A large team of first responders were able to extricate two people following a serious crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway. Five adults and four children were left homeless after a fire ripped through a two-story duplex in the City of Poughkeepsie. The fire, which started around 6:10 p.m. Monday, at 64 Talmadge St., began on the second-floor of the four-unit building, said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. A 72-year-old Town of Poughkeepsie woman received serious head injuries after being hit by a car on Violet Avenue, according to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police. The incident took place around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday near 347 Violet Ave., when the woman stepped onto the roadway and was struck by a car traveling north, said Lt. Brian Wagner.
