Fiery Crash: Good Samaritans, Off-Duty Cop Save Victims From Burning Vehicle On Long Island
An off-duty police officer and two Good Samaritans saved two people from their burning car after a Long Island car crash, authorities announced.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 24 in Farmingville.
Maribel Ramirez, aged 45, of Coram, was driving a 2014 Honda northbound on Country Road 83, near South Bicycle Path.
At approximately 5:20 a.m., Ramirez’s car hit a guard rail and overturned.
Officer Kevin Farina was on his way to work when he saw the flipped car and jumped into action.

Cooking Oil Thieves Nabbed On Long Island, Police Say
Two Long Island men have been charged with stealing cooking oil from several restaurants.
The three thefts took place in Suffolk County in May and June in Medford and Patchogue, said the Suffolk County Police.
According to Suffolk County Police Gregory Smith, age 39, and Andrew DeMarco, age 38, both of Farmingville, were arrested on Monday, June 5, for stealing cooking oil from three different restaurants on five occasions.
Smith drove a rented box truck and siphoned the oil into a 500-gallon container while DeMarco drove a 2023 Honda Accord to act as a lookout, police said.

A Long Island man has been charged with driving while high on drugs after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a 21-year-old.
The incident took place in Centereach around 5 p.m., March 19 on Middle Country Road, near Wood Road.

Trio Apprehended In String Of Dunkin' Burglaries In Suffolk County
An investigation into a string of burglaries of Dunkin' locations on Long Island led to charges for three people.
Two people broke into Dunkin', located at 1105 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, at about 3:40 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, the Suffolk County Police Department reported.
They stole cash and left the scene in a waiting vehicle, which detectives pulled over a short time later, SCPD said.
Police arrested the driver, identified as 54-year-old Michael Gruber, and the passengers, 51-year-old Kristen Osmolia and 44-year-old Christopher Volpe, authorities reported.
