Lightning caused a massive structure fire at a house in Norwalk. Firefighters responded to a reported lightning strike to a home on Richlee Road, Monday, Aug. 19 at 4:50 p.m., said the fire department. While responding, the call was upgraded to a working structure fire, with the occupant leaving the home with his two dogs, according to Norwalk Fire. A car fire led to a five-alarm blaze that broke out and destroyed a mansion on Long Island, leaving a firefighter injured with heat exhaustion. Ten firefighters were injured and a dozen families displaced when a fire broke out that left two houses in Westchester destroyed and caused Metro-North delays. Two Dogs Die During Monroe House Fire
Two dogs died and one firefighter suffered minor injuries during a house fire that broke out in Monroe early Wednesday morning. The fire started around 8 a.m., on lower Pepper Street, said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Catalano.
