Man Abandons Dog In Hot Car On Long Island, Leading To Its Death, Officials Announce
A Long Island man faces multiple animal cruelty charges when his dog died after allegedly being left in a car on a hot day, authorities announced.
On Monday, Aug. 7, the Suffolk County SPCA announced the charges against Raymond Gonzalez, a 60-year-old North Amityville resident, for his alleged role in the death of Koko, his one-and-a-half-year-old dog.
According to Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross, Gonzalez left the German shepherd-husky mix alone inside a car on a hot day.
After several hours, Koko was discovered to be dead.

Two suspects are behind bars in connection with a string of bank robberies on Long Island.
Joseph Hill, age 40, and Stephanie Demola, age 34, both of Moriches, were arrested on robbery charges Monday, July 17.

A Long Island man’s Independence Day plans have been canceled after he was arrested for possessing hundreds of fireworks, including 400 mortars, police said.
On Saturday, July 1 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Nassau County Police arrested Massapequa resident Michael Masone, aged 37, for unlawfully possessing fireworks.
According to the police department, 113 cases of fireworks and 400 mortars were seized by the Arson Bomb Squad from Masone’s home.

Victim In DWI Crash Identified As Long Island Man, Dies From Injuries: Police
A man critically injured in an alleged DWI crash on Long Island has been identified, and succumbed to his injuries, police reported.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 10 at 10 p.m. in Uniondale, according to the Nassau County Police.
The victim, now identified as Uniondale resident Sergio Vera, aged 60, was crossing south on Front Street near New York Avenue when he was struck by a 2018 Mercedes Benz.
Vera sustained head trauma and was listed in critical condition. Police announced on Thursday, June 29 that Vera succumbed to his injuries.
