Nanny In Suffolk County Nabbed For Stealing $15K Worth Of Items From Employer, Police Say
A Long Island nanny has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from her employer, police announced.
Amparo Hoyos Garcia, age 69, of Patchogue, who worked as a nanny for a family on Grassy Pond Drive in Smithtown, stole more than $15,000 worth of jewelry from the residence between Thursday, Dec. 22 and Wednesday, Jan. 19.
Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Garcia was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree grand larceny.
She was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.

Long Island Man Stabs Boyfriend's Landlord During Dispute, Police Say
Police arrested a suspect for allegedly stabbing his boyfriend's landlord at a residence on Long Island.
The incident took place in Bay Shore around 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10 during a dispute between the landlord and his tenants’ boyfriend, Anthony Cook, age 35, said the Suffolk County Police.
Cook stabbed the man with a kitchen knife inside the living room, located on Udall Road.
Police responded and transported the 70-year-old victim to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Long Island Duo Nabbed With Guns, Cash After Warrant Search
Investigators executed multiple search warrants that led to the arrest of two men on Long Island, police said.
Suffolk County Police Officers and detectives from the Second Precinct Gang Unit, Second Precinct Crime Section, Narcotics Section, Firearms Suppression Team, and Criminal Intelligence Unit executed five search warrants at approximately 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26 in Huntington Station, during which two handguns and $100,000 was seized.

A 22-year-old Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly scamming a woman out of more than $13,000 after she was told her granddaughter had been arrested.
Kayla A. Roberts, of the Nassau County hamlet of East Norwich in the Town of Oyster Bay, has been arrested by the Nassau County Police on Thursday, Jan. 28, in Massapequa for the incident which took on Thursday, Jan. 21, said the Nassau County Police.

Duo Nabbed For Long Island Murder
Police arrested two people for murdering a Long Island man in August.
Homicide Squad detectives charged Brooke Jackson, 41, and Umar A. El-Quhir Sr., 43, of Mastic, on Monday, Nov. 23, with murder, for the Thursday, Aug. 20, killing of Earle Foster, 52, of Hempstead, in East Patchogue, said Suffolk County Police.
Jackson will be held at the Fourth Precinct and El-Quhir Sr. will be held at the Fifth Precinct, and are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Foster was found dead of a gunshot wound in the courtyard of the Maple Tree Apartments.
Two Charged In Long Island Massage Parlor Raid
Two women were charged with the felony of unauthorized practice of a profession after multiple complaints were lodged about a Long Island massage parlor, according to police.
Officers raided B & B Retreat Inc., doing business as "SPALAX" on 38 E. Main St. in the village of Babylon at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 1, Suffolk County Police said.
Queens residents Liyu Qian, 40, and Zhouxia Zheng, 52, both of Flushing, were charged with felonies under New York State Education Law.
The village's building inspector also issued multiple code violations, said police.
